ANGELIKA’S NOTE

Inspired by his own life and love for music, filmmaker John Carney (ONCE, BEGIN AGAIN) presents a world where music has the power to take us away from the turmoil of everyday life. SING STREET stars up-and-comer Ferdia Walsh-Peelo as a 14-year-old in 1980s Dublin. Struggling to adjust to his new public school, Conor finds a glimmer of hope in a mysterious and beautiful girl… who he tries to impress by starting a rock band. Featuring music by The Cure, Duran Duran, The Clash, and more, this charming and sophisticated critical favorite, rated 95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, reaffirms music’s ability to transform us into something greater.

SYNOPSIS

In 1985 Dublin, 15-year-old Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) has just been moved to a new school. Between the inane rules, fascist teacher-priests, and bullies, it is a daunting place. He meets a beautiful girl, Raphina (Lucy Boynton), and is immediately smitten by her. To get to see her, he says he is in a band that needs a model for a music video. Surprisingly, she agrees. There’s only one problem left: he doesn’t have a band.
