ANGELIKA’S NOTE

In this semi-autobiographical tale, director Kenneth Branagh (THOR, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS) crafts a heartwarming and heartbreaking exploration of a working-class family in 1960s Belfast. With brilliant performances from a cast of Jude Hill (MAGPIE MURDERS, RIAN), Lewis McAskie (HERE BEFORE), and Caitriona Balfe (FORD V FERRARI, ESCAPE PLAN), “Belfast” is a stunningly immersive beauty of a film. The National Newspaper Publishers Association raves that “Belfast” is, “a major change of pace for the man who was once dubbed "the next Laurence Olivier," and easily the best thing he's done as a writer-director in decades."

SYNOPSIS

Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Kenneth Branagh, BELFAST is a poignant story of love, laughter and loss in one boy’s childhood, amid the music and social tumult of the late 1960s. The cast stars Golden Globe nominee Caitriona Balfe, Academy Award® winner Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds, and introduces 10 year old Jude Hill. Dornan and Balfe play a passionate working-class couple caught up in the mayhem, with Dench and Hinds as sharp-witted grandparents.
